There are times when you are experiencing an issue that will require a technician to be able to visually see your computer screen and manipulate your computer remotely. There are several ways a technician can connect to your computer to assist you; however some of these ways require your assistance! Here is the guide for connecting via Windows Remote Assistance:
WINDOWS REMOTE ASSISTANCE:
Getting the Computer Name:
(Note: Usually A technician can retrieve your computer name themselves however there are off cases where they will ask you for it.)
1. Right click on the start button in the bottom left of your screen.
2. Once the sub menu has popped up click on "System" (Should be the fifth option down in the Menu)
3. In the System window you will find your computer name under the "Computer name, domain, and workgroup section"
4. Provide your computer name to the technician
Allowing the Technician to Connect:
1. Once the technician has your computer name they will send out a request to connect to your computer.
2. A windows dialog box will pop up asking if you want the technician to connect. Click "Allow"
(Note: Always confirm the name of the person trying to connect is the name of your technician)
3.Once the technician is connected they will only be able to view your screen; however they may send a request to allow control of the computer
4. If the technician asks for control a second dialog box will pop up in which case you can allow them if needed.
5. Once you click yes the technician will now be able to assist you with your issue!
